WASTE ANAESTHETIC GASES
Modern inhaled anaesthetic gases are very powerful greenhouse gases – some of them are over 2,000 times more potent than COâ‚‚ on a per-molecule basis and stay in the atmosphere for years.
These gases possess chemical structures similar to chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) or hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs).
On average, 5% of acute hospital CO2e emissions and 50% of peri-operative department emissions are from anaesthetic gases.
We can’t see them, but these gases can have a very big climate impact.

GAIATECH SOLUTION
Gaiatech has developed a novel capture technology. Our capture system uses a proprietary functionalised adsorbent. Using a unique, highly efficient and environmentally benign process, we tailor the surface functionalities of the capture material to achieve 100% and selective removal of waste anaesthetic gases.
Our innovative technology offers a unique combination of higher anaesthetic gas removal efficiency, reduced capital and operational costs, and a simpler operation model, positioning us as the preferred partner for hospitals and healthcare providers seeking to lead in emissions reduction and make a meaningful impact on climate change.
We use a safe, inert, and chemical-free natural-based capture material.
Our capture material is prepared by an environmentally friendly technology.
We deconstruct and valorise the captured anaesthetic gases.
